Hi, my name is Cookie. I am a tree cookie. I was a 37 year old Lodgepole Pine Tree. Before a man came and chopped me down. Mean guy! It turns out he cut me down to make a crell for his horses. I started growing in 1978 all the way to 2015. My first years were good. I was growing on the side of a mountain, I was on a slope. I had a lot of sunshine for myself and a beautiful view of the valley. I was by myself until I was 17. Some mean Lodgepole Pine Tree's came along and stole my mountain side. Mean trees! At this stage I was discovering my first competition. Not fun! Those years were horrible, but just as I thought things were getting better, it got worse. A bug came and chewed through my outer bark. Later I found out that the bug's name was Genevieve. At least she was a pretty bug. At this point my life was horrible. The Lodgepole Pine Tree’s was getting bigger and stealing more of my sunshine, it made me sad. I don't know if I'm glad that that man came and cut me down. Any way, the very next day that man came and chopped me down. It was not fun being a part of the horse crell but it was a bit better than sitting there on the mountain trying hard to win this competition. Oh ya I forgot about that bug Genevieve. It tickled a lot. Now I am here. A Ghost, telling you my story.

Today class we were talking about what happened to this tree up at the top (the black scar) I think that in this scar was formed by another tree. If another tree grew up right beside this tree it could make that scar by pushing on it. I think
For the last week at school we have been working on dichotomous keys in science about trees. A dichotomous key is when you start at a point and there will be questions to identify an object. You choose an an answer and you'll be asked another question. You will keep on going until you get your answer.
Yesterday we went to Crimson Lake for a field study. 1 thing I learned was that a Lodgepole Pine Tree grows very tall and strat. Also you can tell how old a young conifers tree is by counting the whorls on the tree. Whorls are where about 4 branches are coming out. To see how tall an older conifers tree is measure a person, let the person stand by the tree, take a walk back and take your hands and "stack" them. Then count how many times you stacked and add that by what the person's height.
This is my guess for the most of conical trees conical. I think their conical because all of the water can't get all the way up to the top because the bottom branches take up all the water. Other guess is the sun shrivels up the top branches.
